Scopeblue® – our "Sustainability Stars"
The Scopeblue® brand thus identifies products that enable climate-friendly solutions and contribute to a circular economy. They offer a concrete sustainability benefit for our customers. Only products that meet at least one of the following two criteria can receive the Scopeblue® label:
- The products contain at least 50 % sustainable raw materials
- The carbon footprint of the products is at least 50 % lower than that of conventional products
The Scopeblue® product family is constantly growing - you can find some examples below.
In addition to its conventional ion exchange resin portfolio made from fossil-based raw materials, LANXESS is now offering products based on sustainable raw materials following the mass balance approach.
For the production of our TMP Scopeblue®, we use 100% bio-circular based n-butylaldehyde. Thus, the latest product of the Advanced Industrial Intermediates BU consists of 54 % sustainable raw materials. TMP Scopeblue® and the entire value chain are ISCC Plus certified. TMP is used, for example, for coatings, foams, adhesives or lubricants in transportation, construction or consumer goods.
- Light-color sulfur carriers for metalworking lubricants
- Reduce wear and prevent cold welding
- Scopeblue® label indicates products with sustainable profileproduced light-color sulfur carriers
LANXESS is introducing sustainable light-color sulfur carriers within the Additin product family. Produced at the Mannheim site in Germany, the sulfur carriers are marketed under the LANXESS Scopeblue® sustainability umbrella brand.
“Sustainability is a key focus area and an increasingly important topic at LANXESS,” says Neelanjan Banerjee, Head of LANXESS’s Lubricant Additives Business (LAB). “Not only do we have the right products in our portfolio to support our customers across applications and grow with them, we also offer them more sustainable, more environmentally friendly alternatives. This makes us a frontrunner in the market.”
The light sulfur-carriers are based on locally sourced renewable raw materials. They also meet the requirements of the “Lubricant Substance Classification”-list (LuSC) – the prime reference for formulators of lubricants who intend to apply for the EU Ecolabel. EU Ecolabel lubricants are more eco-friendly alternatives to conventional lubricants, aiming to decrease the impact of these products on biodiversity, through respecting a wide scope of environmental criteria.
